position description

The Director of Donor Relations guides the Annual Fund, which currently provides approximately 50% of ECF’s operating budget. This involves managing and manipulating the prospect database (CSuite), working with the VP of Philanthropy & Communications to create annual fund cultivation and stewardship methods, and coordinating fundraising-related activities in direct support of the Annual Fund ( as well as other select initiatives and affinity groups) as part of a broader fundraising strategy.  In collaboration with the VP of Philanthropy & Communications and the Communications Manager, the Director of Donor Relations is responsible for managing the fall appeal mailings. This person also maintains a portfolio of prospects for one-on-one stewardship to retain and upgrade annual gifts, and builds a pipeline for major gifts prospects. The Director of Donor Relations plays a vital role,  raising funds to advance Evanston Community Foundation (ECF) and its mission.

qualifications and skills

  • Bachelor's degree or higher, and at least 5 years of experience in fundraising, development and event coordination preferred – or an equivalent level of education + experience
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a history of meeting deadlines
  • Experienced in working with a donor database, such as CSuite, Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce, etc.
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing anti-racist and/or Diversity, Equity and Inclusion learning
  • Discretion and ability to work with confidential donor information
