lifting up early childhood
As of March 13, the April 15 program is postponed. Registration will reopen after the rescheduled date is set.
A series of three community events between November 2019 and April 2020 will highlight the importance of early childhood and encourage community support. Join us.
Lifting Up Early Childhood is a coalition of over 50 partners in Evanston and Skokie working together to build local support for early childhood care and education so that our communities ensure that all our children get the best start and build a strong foundation.
The lasting impact of high quality early childhood care and education on children’s health and educational success is increasingly clear. But not all children and families get access and programs struggle with inadequate resources.
All events begin at 5:00 pm for registration and dinner. Programming begins at 6:00 pm. Childcare is provided with advance registration. There is no cost to attend as Evanston Community Foundation and Evanston Cradle to Career are fully sponsoring the event.
January 19, 2020 Showing of the film No Small Matter, a documentary on the state and impact of early childhood education around the country, at Evanston Public Library Room 107, 1703 Orrington Ave.
February 26, 2020 The First 1,100 Days Last Forever, a talk by Erikson Institute President Geoff Nagle on early childhood development, at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Literary and Fine Arts School Auditorium, 2424 Lake Street. Habrá un intérprete.
April 15, 2020 The State of Early Education. The state of early education in Evanston and Skokie, highlighting the work currently being done in both communities and outstanding needs, along with a call to action to improve access and quality in our communities. Location TBD. Habrá un intérprete.
REGISTRATION WILL REOPEN AFTER A NEW DATE IS SET. (To attend, please register below. Childcare will be available with advance registration.)
