accepting root2fruit applications
August 6, 2018 | ECF Press Release
For the 17th consecutive year, the Foundation will make up to three new grants of up to $10,000 each. Grants will be for the 2019 calendar year and each grant award is renewable for two additional years for a maximum total award of $30,000.
root2fruit is designed for small and midsize organizations serving Evanston. New and community based organizations are encouraged to apply for 2019. Those without 501(c)3 status can apply with a fiscal sponsor.
Made possible through a partnership with the Mammel Foundation, root2fruit is a capacity building program, which includes not only renewable three year grants but also participation in a learning community. root2fruit helps nonprofits build their long-term sustainability by improving board effectiveness, fundraising capacity, and business practices. 51 organizations serving Evanston have grown through their participation in root2fruit.
“The organizations that have been part of root2fruit have increased their impact on Evanston because they are stronger and more stable,” said Marybeth Schroeder, ECF Vice President for Programs. “Working with our advisory board of experienced nonprofit leaders and board members and fellow grantees helps strengthen organizational infrastructure.”
