ECF CENTERS ACCESSIBILITY WITH NEW BRAND IDENTITY AND WEBSITE
EVANSTON, IL, August 23, 2024- On Friday, August 23, 2024, The Evanston Community Foundation introduced a new brand identity and website to the community in efforts to make their resources more accessible. The foundation held an intimate zoom gathering comprised of staff, board members, special guests and developers to commemorate the milestone and walk-through the final product.
“Updating our website was a long over-due project that really allowed us to reflect on our goals as an institution,” said Senior Communications Manager, Akilah Wilson, who spearheaded the project. “We knew going in that we didn’t just want a beautiful ‘user- friendly’ website but one that was thoughtful of all our residents in community.”
The new website functionality includes accessibility feature for the visually impaired, Spanish translation capabilities, and a secure fund advisor portal. The Foundation also made efforts to evolve their brand from their tried-and-true lime green logo colors to more subdued hues.
“Again, we wanted to be mindful of everyone's experience interacting with our brand,” said Akilah. “This meant honoring the profound legacy of our founders while being inclusive of the needs of our supporters at large. We opted for more readable fonts, examined accessible color and contrast, and even re-examined the language we use to communicate our work in efforts to create a digital experience that is reflective of the values of ECF.”
