We are proud to present our latest program offering- Board Leadership Training- as part of our newly launched initiative: Ubuntu Leadership Institute. Our hope is to diversify Board service pipelines in Evanston to help create a more just, vibrant, and equitable community.
A cohort-style program to prepare BIPOC-identifying community members for service on nonprofit boards, city committees, commissions, and task forces. • To equip participants with essential skills and knowledge for effective service while fostering meaningful discussions on diversity, equity, and inclusion within board development. • Inaugural cohort to be guided by Tracy Fulce and Dr. Esther Wallen from The Eight Effect, an Evanston-based organization known for enhancing board readiness through their culturally responsive and inclusive 'Board Bootcamp' curriculum
Board Leadership Training is designed for BIPOC- identifying Evanston residents with little or no experience on nonprofit boards. Sessions will be held in-person with online assignments. Participants will need to commit to the entire series. Participation will be capped at 25.
Board Leadership Training is offered as a blended learning experience with alternating in-person sessions. There are 4 modules, each 2 weeks long and include an in-person meeting and online assignments. Through this participants will:
1. Gain critical insight into their own knowledge, skills and abilities and learn how to leverage their talents to serve the Evanston community.
2. Learn the rights, roles, and responsibilities of a board member in public and private boards.
3. Network with organizations recruiting for board members.
ECF is committed to mobilizing community resources to drive systemic social change and build a thriving and resilient Evanston. In alignment with this commitment, and in efforts to increase accessibility in philanthropy, Board Leadership Training will be offered at no cost to participants.
